This week the children have been very busy looking at the songs from ‘The Greatest Showman’. They have started to learn one of the songs with Makaton ready to perform at our stay and play on the 1st April at 2.30pm. The children have also been thinking about what makes them unique and what is special about them. They talked with a friend about what is the same and what is different about each other in our class.
The children have been working on blending when reading and capital letters this week in their literacy as well as learning ‘Dear Zoo’ with actions and personalising the story to write their own ‘Dear Circus’. I am very impressed with their independence, resilience and positive attitude towards their work this week.
In maths the children have been working on days of the week and have been exploring our new outside maths area which includes a large set of weighing scales.
A vital part of our week has been discussing hand washing and the importance of it. The children have been very good at ensuring their hands are kept clean.
Next week we will be learning one of the songs from Dumbo ready to perform at our stay and play and building on and developing our circus skills ready for the big performance.
Our phonic sound this week is ‘ar’. A list has been sent home with the new sounds on.
Have a lovely weekend
