Year 6- 01/11/19

Welcome to the blog. First week back after half-term…it’s always a good one that and apparently it is an 8 week term…lovely.
In maths we are now looking at fractions and half of me is excited, a quarter of me can’t believe how quickly the year is going and the other quarter is thinking about a Greggs breakfast meal deal. We have looked at adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. The fun we’ve had!
In literacy we are looking at biographies and the children have researched their own famous person to write about. Today they will complete their cold write and then we will explore features and ways in which we can make them more engaging to the reader.
In geography we are looking at the water cycle and how water plays a huge part in absolutely everything from us being able to live to how the lands above and below us are formed. In PSHE, we have had another visit from Nest and they discussed Hate Crimes and the various forms of it, the children remained mature throughout the lesson and discussed some sensitive issues. Well done Year 6.
Hopefully everyone enjoys the Halloween disco. No CFHL this week but it will return next week. The question this week is Halloween themed – who is your favourite monster (you cannot pick your children, I mean real classic monsters). I have always enjoyed anything Werewolf related (dressed up as one at 9 years old…absolutely hooooooowling with laughter I was).
