This week we have had a lovely week writing our innovated stories of Cinderella. Over the last few weeks we have been looking at the features of the story and changing parts. The children have done amazingly well and have shown so much progress, I am so proud.
In maths we have started to look at measurements and have started with the vocabulary longer, shorter and taller. We have been comparing heights and lengths and again the children have done great at this.
Due the recent events, on Thursday afternoon in science, we focused on germs and washing our hands properly. We did an experiment to see how far germs can spread just by touching things. We painted our hand and then shook hands with others, the children then had to try and wash the paint off by washing their hands thoroughly with soup (and not just for 10 seconds!).
In our other science/DT lesson this week, we became engineers and designed a protective cover for Jack’s golden egg. We used lots of different materials to try to ensure our eggs didn’t smash when they dropped it from our metre-tall beanstalk!
In PE we have started to practise different dance routines by following and copying steps and in music we have been practising our new song on the glockenspiels.
Keep it up Year 1.
Have a great weekend,
