Year 1 Blog

Year 1 – 17/5/19

This week in year 1, the children have written instructions to tell the Year 2 children how to make paper sunflowers. They have used time connectives to sequence their instructions, powerful verbs, adjectives and joining words to extend their sentences. I am so impressed with how much pride the children are taking with their writing and the progress that they are making.

In maths, they have been recalling the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and have moved on to written multiplication. We have tried to do lots of outdoor maths this week while the weather has been so lovely. The children have explored making arrays in the playground with beanbags and grouping objects.

I will be delivering a short phonics meeting in the year 1 classroom next Wednesday at 3:30pm and 5:30pm if you would like more information about the upcoming Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.

It will be lovely to see you.
