This week has been a fantastic week. The children have all worked their socks off, we have been in the Lancashire Telegraph and I’ve had my vaccination!! Safe to safe it’s been a fabulous week.
In literacy we have finish our unit on stories and the children have all written a fantastic story. Some forgetting of capital letters and full stops and so we have had a big push Wednesday and Thursday on adding them into our writing. Next week we will be moving onto diaries and the children will be writing a diary entry for our WOW day on Monday.
In Maths we have developed our counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. The children have been able to apply their counting to different situations. Counting in 5s seems to be the trickiest to master so we will continue to work on this. We are moving on to sharing next week.
In science this week we have moved on to plants and we will be creating a diary for a seed we will be growing in school.
Our topic work has continued this week talking about school from the past. The children remembered lots of information regarding what schools were like such as 1 teacher for 60 children, writing lines and the dunce hat along with lots more. The children compared schools from the past to present and decided that the punishment from today was Mrs Sutcliff getting grumpy which is better than the cane or the ruler.
Next week we will have our dress up day on Monday. Please don’t buy anything special; it could be a simple dress or jeans and a shirt.
The reading has been much better this week. I have offered silver and bronze certificates as well as gold but next week it will just be gold for reading every day.
Have a lovely weekend
