Year 2- 13.12.19

Wow this week has been very ‘Christmassy’! We have performed both of our Christmas plays ‘Lights, Camel, Action 2! The Sequin’. I am super proud of the children for their enthusiasm, hard-work and determination. They kept the audience hooked and captivated. They weren’t short of any laughs either!
We have written our letters to Mrs Claus and the children wrote about their special people. They have applied their features of letter writing brilliantly.
The children found RE day very interesting and learnt a lot about the Christian belief. Firstly, the children made their own dens in the dark and then had to discuss how they felt in the dark. When they were given torches, they had to explain how they then felt. This linked this to the Christian belief of Jesus being the light of the world and giving hope, comfort and guidance to Christians. We then explored the Christmas story and how Jesus is the light of the world to Christians. The children enjoyed making their own Christingles and learnt about which part of the Christingle represents what. The children then reflected on who is the light of their life and wrote a special letter to this person. They applied their letter writing skills once again.
Next week we are performing Santa Claus is coming to town to the villagers and look forward to our Christmas dinner.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!
