Year 2 Blog

Year 2 Blog – 07.05.21

Well that’s another week complete. Although it has been a short week, we have been busy bees!

We have nearly finished our Traction Man unit and have wrote our final draft ready for our hot write next week. In maths we have been looking at fractions, we have looked at recognising half and quarter of a shape and have found half of a number. Next week we will move on to finding a quarter of a number and begin to look at thirds.

In science on Tuesday the children wrote instructions of how to plant a broad bean seed in a sandwich bag. We are still to see growth in our seeds but we will keep on observing!

In PE I saw lots of resilience and some great growth mindsets this week; the children were practising jumping over hurdles by bending their legs to increase their height. It was great to see them all persevering even when things went wrong.

Today we had RE day where our focus was Christianity. We looked at why celebrating is important in religion and worship. We looked at different celebrations that we all have, the story of Pentecost and about the Holy Spirit and the Salvation Army and what they do to bring good and kindness to the world. We then created a ‘random act of kindness’ calendar, where we aim to complete at least one random act of kindness for the rest of May.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend,

Miss Sutton
