Year 4 Blog

Year 4 – 19/9/19

The children’s brilliant attitude is continuing and they are coming on leaps and bounds. I must say, after the pressures of year 3, this year is showing the fruits of their labours already. Lots of embedding of already visited concepts and some deeper learning for mastery happening.

In maths we are still studying place value. Moving to numbers over 1000, comparing and ordering them, rounding to the nearest 1000 and finding 1000 more and less.

In English we have been debating. We have looked at how parliament debate, what makes a good debate and planned our own, using lots of new vocabulary. The children sure are convincing when they want or believe something. Some fellow politicians in the making….

In Science we have continued to look at the digestive system and digging deeper to how it works and what would happen if we didn’t have a part of the system.

In Art we have started our vision/dream boards for display in the classroom to always remind us how incredible and capable we are.

In PSHE we have been looking at keeping ourselves safe. Especially on the internet.

School targets this term. It would be a huge help if you could dip into these when possible. When you are reading with your child, you could initiate a conversation around any of these targets.

Punctuation – commas to separate a clause and fronted adverbials.

Retrieval – Non fiction texts

Have a grand weekend, let’s hope the weather holds out.
