Year 4 Blog – 18.06.21

Well this week has whizzed by!

It seems that this week has been a case of blink and you’ll miss it. The children have put in a lot of time to practise using line graphs to present data. They still have a little way to go to be able to draw them accurately but they have all shown that they can get information from them.

The children have written their own narratives this week after working on many techniques based on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. As we approach the end of the year, everyone is trying to showcase everything they have learnt and I am super proud of the effort most children are putting in.

I plan on having a big push on reading from now until the summer break. I have sent out a reminder to everyone that they should be on the Collins Ebooks. This can be done alongside ‘real’ books but the school levels are now fully online. Please listen to your child read at least 4 times per week and note it in the yellow reading record.

The children have begun their final DT project for the year. Having experienced such great success with cooking, we are going to try our luck sewing. The project is based on the Bayeux Tapestry, which we are looking at in History.

Additional to this, the children have been working on stop motion animation to retell the story of the Battle of Hastings. By next week, we should have the entire story stitched together in one masterpiece so, watch this space!

Next week will be the last for Miss Pathan, who has been working incredibly hard with us over the past 8 weeks. She has made such an impact on the class and I know the children will be sad to see her go.

Have a super weekend. Only 4 weeks to go.
