Blink and you miss it!
I can’t believe that it is already that time of the week where we can look back and see what we have achieved. There has been a lot of writing done this week, as the children have been putting the meat on the bones of their legends. They have been looking closely at the sentence structures of each other’s work and have been trying to make improvements based on advice from friends.
The children have also been using ICT skills to create group PowerPoint presentations which explain how electricity is generated. They have looked into the dangers of electricity in the home and what they can do to reduce the risks.
Wednesday saw the first keyboard workshop from Mrs Ayres from St Wilfred’s. The children all participated really well and started to be able to learn simple exercises on the keyboard. We are very much looking forward to the next few sessions.
Maths work has focused on multiplication. We have explored the formal methods for this and reminded ourselves of some of the methods we have used in the past. At this stage in the year, it is super important that children are looking at times tables. Knowing the facts and being able to recall them quickly really helps with the rest of the maths learning. TTRockstars is the place to go. There are tables work set so let me know if you need your passwords again.
The children have also created some incredible artwork this week in the form of Willow designs based on the work of Thomas Minton. They took elements from their Legends and turned them into fancy plates using only blue ink and water to get different shades.
A reminder that all children are required to have their yellow reading records in school so that I can monitor their reading. I still expect to see 4 readings a week including online books, appropriate magazines, and books from home. It is also a good idea to have a reading book from home to read during personal reading times.
Have a great weekend.
