I’m hoping that this is the start of spring and it is not giving us all a false sense of security. As the sun was shining in the sky, I took the opportunity to take the children out for some outdoor learning. We have been looking at fractions in maths, in particular ordering them. The children had to order improper fractions, mixed numbers and regular fractions. We used chalk to order them on the playground which the children loved and were able to bounce off each other with problem solving ideas. Today we have started to add fractions together.
In English the children have been looking at newspaper articles with Miss Jackson. I have taken a small group away and we have created some fake news about a lion on the loose in Blackburn. It has been very beneficial for me and the children to spend some time on a 1:1 level.
In Art the children have attempted some spray painting tags. They went out with Miss Jackson and used the spray paint, creating their own name tag. The children loved the experience.
Accrington Stanley have been into school also to do some football and then some theory work about the body and how to stay fit. The children have absolutely loved these lessons.
It’s parent’s evening tonight and I am very much looking forward to speaking to you all. I feel it’s a really valuable time for all parties. Thank you all for attending in advance.
Tomorrow is World Book Day. The children have been reading Street Child and have been captivated by it. I am very much looking forward to seeing their interpretations of some of the characters in this Victorian themed book.
Thank you for all your support. Have a brilliant weekend.
