Year 5 – 26/9/19

It’s been another busy week in year 5. We continued with our Rose Blanche story and will write up the final story tomorrow. I am very much looking forward to reading the children’s work as they have put in so much effort. On Monday we will start a new English topic, poetry.

Thank you so much to all the children and parents who helped with the Mathletics homework. I honestly can tell that some children have practiced at home. It really makes a huge difference so thank you all very much.

In PE I am mixing our gymnastics topic with a more competitive sport, hockey. I have taught the children the basic skills and we put them into some basic drills. They all are very competitive which I like. We talked about sportsmanship which they all listened to and were brilliant throughout the lesson.

In Science we looked at interpreting data from 12 different tree trunks. We tried to find a correlation between the diameter of the tree and the amount of rings. We looked for anomalies in the data and theorised why this may be. They were proper little scientists!!

In Maths we have continued with the place value. Mixing the Learning by questions on the ipads with some work in books. Like I said, the children have done brilliantly and that extra work at home helps thank you.

Have a brilliant weekend
