Year 5 Blog

Year 5 – 7/6/19

Well, we did not hang around on the first day back. By 9:30 we were on our way to Lancaster to the Maritime ‘Dark Ages’ exhibition. Our first stop was Williamson park. The grounds were spectacular looking over Morecombe bay. The weather was kind to us and we had our dinners before heading to the museum. The staff at the exhibition were extremely organised and whisked us off in different groups for different workshops. The children did practical activities, drama activities and listened to middle age stories and fables. It was a brilliant day; the staff and the children had a brilliant ‘hands on’ learning experience.

We have started our newspaper reports as a new English topic. I have brought in a personal report and found a copy of the headlines 75 years ago, the D-day landings.

In maths the children have been solving problems around angles. Thank you to all the children who completed their Mathletics homework. I hope all our children celebrating Eid had a brilliant day. Thank you to those who brought in sweets and other food. My dinner today was absolutely delicious which was some left over rice from yesterday.

It’s been a brilliant first week back. I am looking forward to getting more into our Anglo Saxon topic and writing some fantastic news reports.

Have a great weekend.

Mr G
