Year 6- 06.12.19

Blog time. Another week down and another week closer to Christmas and even better than that another week closer to the end of term. Not long now!
It has been a busy week, we started by building our Year 6 Christmas tree from recycled cans and after having to rebuild it today – from scratch- you can well imagine how well the first effort went. It does look good now though and has told me many things: fizzy drinks remain popular and the sugar-tax is having little effect on the purchasing of sugary drinks.
In literacy we have veered off topic a little as we have focused on the assessment tests and then the areas that we need to cover as a result of this. We also did this in mathematics – we have completed an arithmetic test and two reasoning tests – and have made our own targets on the basis of these results.
In PSHE, children looked at the dangers of alcohol and in music have continued to learn their new song by Benjamin Britten (it’s beautiful apparently). We are also getting ready for the Christmas Nativity production with Little Bells.
Finally, we have been joined by a new teacher in class called Mr Temple who is a second year student from Edge Hill. He will take some of the lessons up until February. I already like him.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mr Furness
