Year 6- 10.01.20

The first week back. Honestly, tired is an understatement. We are here though and I must admit it is
wonderful to be back amongst such a wonderful staff and our amazing children.
This week in math, we have been looking at decimals and recapping how to multiply them and how
we can solve reasoning problems that involve these tricky little devils. We continue with decimals
next week and further explore the relationship between decimals, fractions and percentages.
In literacy, we have created the rough draft of our mystery story and it has been a good unitโ€ฆI have
really enjoyed writing my own with help from the children and have seen a massive improvement in
some of their writing.
In geography, we have explored counties and we will then focus on our own county and then take an
in-depth look at Belthorn and our local area. Our new topics is โ€˜What is on your doorstep?โ€™ The
children will develop an understanding of the local area and the history of it as well as compare the
physical and human geographical features with other places.
All in all, a nice first week back and despite feeling like a zombie. I am sure 2020 will be another
roaring success.
Enjoy the weekend,
Mr Furness
