Each of our classes is a tribe. And every member of our school community is a tribe members. Get to know them by taking a glimpse into their world…

Little Bells

Meet the Baby Bears

Our Baby Bears can be found in Little Bells, Belthorn Academy’s pre-school. They’re led by Miss Harrison, head of the tribe. On a Wednesday you can often find them Welly Walking around our beautiful school grounds, while at other times you’ll find them mixing the great outdoors with the great indoors, embracing our early years curriculum. Read all about their learning this term.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of bears is a ‘sloth’.

Reception

Meet the Bears

Our tribe of Bears can be found in Reception class, led by Mr Carr, Miss Ash and Miss Ward. The Bears have a rich, varied and fun-filled learning experience. Mixing the outdoors with the indoors, the messy with the clean. They buddy with our Year 6 Otters and collaborate across the year groups.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of bears is a ‘sloth’.

Year 1

Meet the Lions

Our tribe of Lions can be found roaring in Year 1. Led by the combined team of Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Dugdale, they’re equally happy learning indoors as they are outdoors and known for their amazing school performances, baking skills and energy. 

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of lions is a ‘pride’.

Year 2

Meet the Giraffes

Our tribe of Giraffes can be found being curious in Year 2, led by Mrs Sutcliff. The Giraffes are well known for their inquisitive nature, their involvement in eco-club, and their percussion skills.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of giraffes is a ‘tower’.

Year 3

Meet the Dolphins

Our tribe of Dolphins can be found gliding through the waves in Year 3, led by Miss Sutton. The Dolphins love exploring our village, exploring nature, and are dab hands when it comes to technology.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of dolphins is a ‘pod’.

Year 4

Meet the Horses

Our tribe of Horses can be found galloping in Year 4, led by Miss Abbott. The Horses love cantering through creative activities and bringing science to life. Theirs in a class that literally buzzes with energy.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of horses is a ‘herd’.

Year 5

Meet the Wolves

Our tribe of Wolves can be found exploring through the classroom Year 5, led by Mr Griffiths. The Wolves aren’t the only animal in the class – they play home to the school Tortoise. They are a musical bunch, jamming with Mr G, as well as an exploratory bunch, investigating their local surroundings.

Year 6

Meet the Otters

Our tribe of Otters can be found hunting for information in their Year 6 habitat, led by Mr Furness. The Otters lead by example, buddying with our youngest tribes in early years, and flying the flag for our school values. There’s never a dull moment in the classroom, with classes brought to life in ways you’d never believe.

Interesting fact: collective name for a group of otters is a ‘bevy’.
